Directed by Ahmed Khan and led by Akshay Kumar, the film is now projected to close out its opening week at around Rs 95 crore net in India. Regionally, it has performed particularly well in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, though its numbers out of Delhi-NCR specifically have been somewhat capped by strong competition from holdover releases still commanding screens in that circuit.
Trade watchers note that the film’s opening weekend already set it up for a successful run, and the healthy Monday and Tuesday holds have only reinforced that trajectory. The comedy will face its first real test next week when Alpha opens, though that clash isn’t expected to significantly dent its performance. The tougher challenge is likely to arrive in week three, when Dhamaal 4 — another established comedy franchise chasing a similar audience — enters the fray.
How Welcome To The Jungle holds up during that third week will likely determine whether it can be classified as an outright hit. For context, Bhooth Bangla, a comparable release, added Rs 49 crore net after its second week wrapped. Should Welcome To The Jungle come close to matching that kind of post-second-week addition, it would strengthen its case for a HIT verdict.
Breaking down the day-wise numbers, the film opened with Rs 3.75 crore from previews, followed by Rs 15.25 crore on its first Friday. Collections rose through the opening weekend, hitting Rs 20.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 24.25 crore on Sunday. The film then settled into weekday territory with Rs 8.25 crore on Monday and the estimated Rs 9 crore on Tuesday, bringing its five-day cumulative total to Rs 81 crore net.
With a comfortable opening weekend already banked and weekday holds outperforming typical drop-off patterns, Welcome To The Jungle looks well placed heading into its second week, even as bigger competition looms on the horizon in the shape of Alpha and, further out, Dhamaal 4.
